Functional Capacity Evaluation

Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE)

WorkWell’s (WW) Functional Capacity Evaluation is a comprehensive functional test designed to objectively measure the maximum safe functional abilities of a client across a broad range of physical capabilities for recommendations for return to work and activities of daily living.

The FCE has been proven to be effective in workers compensation, fit for duty and disability cases. The test includes detailed strength/motion/balance testing and performance of functional activities such as lifting/carrying, walking, sitting, standing, repetitive squatting, forward bend, overhead reach, push/pull, ladder climb, kneel/crawl, crouch, hand coordination, etc. Job specific testing and referrer requested testing can be included, as well as job matching for return to work.

Kiniesiophysical Method

The WorkWell FCE uses a unique approach to physical examination by allowing the worker to test for maximum objective strength without fear of injury. In this kinesiophysical method of testing it is the therapists skilled in musculoskeletal function – not the worker – who identifies precise physical and functional abilities. The therapist trained in WorkWell’s objective scoring definitions and integrated consistency checks observe muscle function, movement patterns, physiological changes, safety and worker behavior in one evaluation; correlates physical findings with functional limitations and provides specific solutions regarding when and in what capacity that worker can safely return to work.
