Manual Lymphatic Drainage & Decongestive Therapy

How does MLD work?

Manual Lymph Drainage  (MLD) is a very gentle, repetitive technique moving the skin only. The initial lymph vessels under the skin are gently opened.  This allows them to receive more fluid which is transported by collector lymph vessels to the lymph nodes for processing.  The specific nature of the technique enables contraction of these and deeper lymph vessels moving lymph along more quickly.  There is also effect on the sympathetic nervous system which encourages fluid movement and pain reduction.
