MIKE W

Treated at our Nashua clinic

Mike Walsh is a familiar face here at Apple Nashua. As a finisher of 49 marathons (12 Boston) and 7 Ironman distance triathlons, Mike is relentlessly pushing his body. Despite a battle with cancer in 2019 and a heart attack while racing the Patriot Half triathlon in 2022, Mike perseveres. He may be nearly 67 years old, but he is up at 4am every day to get in his runs, bike rides, and swims before work.
In early July of this year, Mike began to increase his running after getting medical clearance following his heart attack when he developed severe hamstring pain. After trying to manage his injury on his own for a couple of weeks, Mike sought out Shad Hansen, PT in the Nashua clinic.

After a couple of weeks of rehabilitation, including dry needling, deep tissue massage, and Pilates, Mike was able to gradually return to pain free running. He is now back on track training for Ironman Lake Placid in 2024

Shad Hansen, MPT, OCS is a physical therapist in our Nashua location with training in Bike Fitting and Pilates for rehabilitation is an experienced endurance athlete himself. He has completed 8 Ironman distance triathlons, multiple 24 hour adventure races, and several ultra distance trail running races in addition to marathons and half ironman triathlons. His experience with his training, racing, and recovery have contributed greatly to his ability to work with endurance athletes. Shad has been an integral PT in treating athletes that compete at high levels as he is familiar with the physical and mental capacity that is needed to be successful in the training and rehabilitation process.

Congratulations MIKE!
