Crockpot Turkey Chili

This delicious recipe is great for a warm, fall meal and packed with a variety of beans that provide energy and protein.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup chopped yellow onion
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 28 ounce can fire roasted crushed tomatoes
  • 15 ounce can kidney beans, rinsed & drained
  • 15 ounce can black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 15 ounce can pinto beans, rinsed and drained
  • Spices
    • 2 tbsp chili powder
    • 1 tbsp ground cumin
    • 1 tsp dried oregano
    • ½ tsp salt
    • ¼ tsp black pepper

Directions

  1. Heat olive oil in large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion, cook 2 minutes, until starts to soften. Add ground turkey, cook until turkey is browned. Add garlic and cook, stirring for 30 seconds.
  2. Turn off heat. Add brown sugar, chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt, pepper and tomato paste. Stir to combine. Add broth and stir. Transfer to slow cooker.
  3. Add crushed tomatoes and beans to slow cooker.
  4. Cook on high 3-4 hours or low 6-8 hours.
